Hero Arts February 2012 Challenges

This first card was created for the sketch challenge. The heart tree can be found in the Silhouette store in the Hero Arts profile. I used the My Mind's Eye Tickled Pink 6x6 pad for the design papers. The "Love You" sentiment is a Silhouette die cut. It comes in a little quote bubble, but I just cut the sentiment. For the circle paper, I actually used an old floral background stamp I had and colored it in with Copics. It turned out nicely, but it just didn't go with the rest of the card. However, when I turned it over, I liked the look of the bleed through of the Copics. I topped it off with some glossy accents and bling on the hearts and some twine.

This next card was created for the die cutting challenge. This cute little owl can be found in the Silhouette store in the Hero Arts profile. The cutting file actually has cute little heart cut outs on the owl. However, the card I made with die cut turned out horribly. I tried to save the card in several ways, but it just wasn't going to happen. So, I used the negative space from the cut image as a stencil. I used a sponge dauber to fill the area with some ink and voila!. I used some alpha stamps to to spell out the sentiment and used a heart stamp to make some embellishments. I finished it off with a button and some twine and used my glitter gel pen to accent some areas. The paper is from the Collage Press Vintage Vogue 6x6 paper pad.

This last card was created for the card challenge. The background die cut can be found in the Silhouette store in the Hero Arts profile. I also cut the sentiment from my Silhouette. The flower at the top was misted with Raven Glimmer Mist and the small flower as well as the sentiment were accented with glossy accents. I used some small clear stamps I have to fill in the boxes in the background and accented those with glitter gel pen and some bling. The paper is from the Collage Press Vintage Vogue 6x6 paper pad.

Studio Calico Sunday Sketch

Here is my layout for the Studio Calico Sunday sketch challenge. I finally used some paper and embellishments from Crate Paper that I have been hoarding. I also added some Glitz transparencies and some doodling with a black precision pen.

Studio Calico Sunday Sketch Challenge

I made this layout for the Studio Calico Sunday sketch challenge. This particular layout is one of many I will be making for my mother. I will be scrapping 17 years worth of greeting cards my step-dad has given to her. Its quite a challenge! For this particular layout I incorporated some stitching using black and white twine. Once I had finished it, I thought it needed some grunging up. So, I dry brushed some white acrylic paint around the edges. The paper line I used is from S.E.I.

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge

This week's challenge on the ATS challenge blog is an "anything goes" challenge. This is great because I recently made two cards using one of the new stamps I ordered. She is the Lil Lolita Ivy stamp from Tickled Pink.

This first card is the one I am entering into the challenge. I colored the image with my Copic markers on C.C. Designs Copic quality cardstock. The papers I used are from the 6x6 Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink (ironic huh? lol) pad from My Mind's Eye.

The second is using the same image. However, on this one I used my Prisma colored pencils with scrap paper.

Studio Calico Sketch Challenge

This layout was created for the Studio Calico blog sketch challenge.

Studio Calico Challenge - Use Mist

This is a layout I created for the challenge on Studio Calico's blog. The challenge was to use mist. I don't have any purchased mists. However, I do make my own using water and acrylic paint. For the challenge I used a white mist on black DCWV cardstock for the background. I used a metal butterfly I have in my stash as a stencil as well.
